Fast Company‘s third annual World Changing Ideas Awards drew nearly 2,000 submissions across 17 categories, with Semtive chosen as finalist within the Energy Category.

Semtive, a new American renewable energy company with headquarters in Silicon Valley, today introduced NEMOI, one of the world’s most efficient, safe and affordable wind turbines for residential, commercial and industrial generation of power.
It’s the latest in small wind innovation. CEO of Semtive, Ignacio Juarez discusses small wind power and the Nemoi — a new vertical-axis wind turbine for rural and urban areas that is optimized to work at low wind speeds, so that even a soft breeze lets it begin generating energy.
MOUNTAIN VIEW (KPIX) — While wind energy is the fastest-growing energy source in the world, wind farms provide less than five percent of the energy in the U.S.
But one Silicon Valley startup is aiming to change the market’s direction.
Argentine startup Semtive, a designer of wind turbines for urban and suburban areas, presents a sustainable energy generator for domestic use and humanitarian aid. Thanks to a vertical axis, low speed wind turbine, and a solar panel, this portable device can store up to 2500W of renewable energy; enough to power a refrigerator for 24 hours, or several appliances simultaneously for 8 hours on a single charge.
